AI doesn’t replace 401(k) advice.
Because it feeds your existing thinking bias.

AI is a competence amplifier.
Clear thinking and good AI prompts help.
Sloppy thinking and bad AI prompts result in worthless responses.

This matters a lot when trying to pick 401(k) mutual funds.

When AI finds new information and ideas.
It feels like a trusted partner.

But a fast answer is not what you need with your 401(k).
What looks and feels like a confident answer.
Never gets fact checked or confirmed.

AI can help find general investment management information.
Asset allocation, rebalancing, diversification, and dollar cost averaging.

But AI is not accountable for the information it provides.
Because it adapts to how your prompt questions.
It’s always agreeable, calm, and confident.

Have you ever had an AI response that states, “I don’t know?”

Neither have I.
And that is the problem when using AI for 401(k) investment advice.

You should think of AI content as suggestions.
Use AI to provide content for 401(k) mutual fund information.
Never use AI content for 401(k) mutual fund decisions.

AI results in too many bad assumptions and general information.
Not relevant to your default 401(k) mutual fund menu.

Curious how AI can fit into your 401(k) investment management decisions?

Let’s connect and I can provide a couple of examples.

P.S. It’s a bad sign if AI is picking your 401(k) mutual funds.
