I received an e-mail last week from a Minnesota company 401(k) retirement plan advice client. His company 401(k) retirement plan menu was recently changed. The new menu lists several index mutual fund options.

Index mutual funds can be great investments when the broad stock market indices rise. The other good thing about index mutual funds is the low annual costs.

There is a great article on Investopedia about the “5 Things You Need To Know About Index Funds.” I sent a copy to my client. I thought that the readers of my blog maybe be interested as well.

When you get time, check to see how many index mutual fund options are on your company 401(k) retirement plan menu. You may be surprised to find out that those mutual funds are among the handful of best-performing mutual funds over the last few years. And the cheapest mutual funds to own.
